Derrick Cadwallender is our Project Manager, living locally in Bedlington, Derrick is responsible for the day to day running of the organisation, with a very hectic schedule ensuring the development and continued growth of the organisation Derrick often spends his free time relaxing at the allotment.


Ann Widdrington is the Community Empowerment Worker, Ann has been with the organisation from the beginning and is delighted to be part of its continued growth and development, Ann's role is supporting Derrick, looking at the training needs of staff and volunteers and planning individual training programmes for everyone, recruiting and supporting volunteers is a large part of Ann's role and she enjoys meeting lots of new people of all ages and abilities who can enhance the organisation. Ann is also a qualified childcare worker and often works with Jill in the crèche service.

Jill Jackson is the Children's Services Manager, Jill has many years experience in childcare and related services, working in day care and out of school clubs, Jill brings her expertise to the children and families who use our services, Jill is responsible for the organisation of the crèche at Hirst Welfare and also for the mobile crèches we often provide, Jill also plans the children's sessions within Station Villa. Glynis Holdroyd works within the Toy Loan service and also delivers regular story sessions at local libraries, Glynis and her family live locally at Newbiggin so is a familiar face at many of the out reach toy loans she delivers, Glynis has been a Story Teller for several months now and is proving to be a very popular attraction with a growing band of followers. Joanne Nugent works within the crèche provision and facilitates the play sessions at Station Villa, Joanne has a keen interest in all aspects of childcare and is keen to continue her training, and Joanne is currently working towards an nvq3 in childcare.

 

Amanda Perry works alongside Joanne in the crèche provision, Amanda first came to the toy library as a volunteer, through accessing training and her personal development she was able to become a member of staff. Amanda is continuing her development and is currently undertaking a level 3 qualification.

 

Trevor Corbett is a long term member of staff, Trevor is our very capable driver/delivery person, and is also responsible for keeping all our equipment in top shape and ensuring everything is kept clean. Trevor is familiar with all the stock and will give you advice on all of the large outdoor toys and there suitability. As well as his driving role Trevor is very experienced at setting up new outreach sites and supporting them in there first weeks of service. 

Raymond Lashley has been with the organisation from the beginning, Ray is responsible for all the administration connected with the services, often Ray is the first person you will speak to when you telephone or call in, a local man, Rays knowledge of the area is invaluable, Ray deals with all the day to day office tasks and always has a friendly word for staff, volunteers and visitors.

Michael Allen is our excellent cleaner, Michael makes sure that the whole of Station Villa is kept hygienic and safe for all the children that pass through each day, all of the staff rely on Michael to maintain their clean and pleasant working environment. 

Our Volunteers

We are very lucky in that we have several long term volunteers who give time and effort each week to ensure the smooth running of the services we offer, volunteers play a huge part within our organisation and we are always delighted to have more people join us, age is no barrier we have something that everyone will enjoy.

Our two longest serving volunteers are Zoe and John.

Zoe is a young lady who devotes a great deal of her time to us, helping in the crèche supporting the toy loan service and on Saturday mornings can be found facilitating the Art Club at Station Villa.

 

 

John can turn his hand to most things! John helps with the administration, goes out with Trevor on deliveries and is able to run toy loan sessions, John has just completed a Youth Workers course and hopes to put this to use within Station Villa shortly.

As well as helping within the organisation John plays a huge part in the management side by being part of our Management Committee.
